Microsoft’s new Xbox Series X and Series S consoles officially launched yesterday, and Xbox gamers around the world are now discovering a new generation of 4K/60 FPS titles, new features like Quick Resume, and more. The ability to stream games from your console to a Windows 10 PC using the Xbox Console Companion app is also not supported on Xbox Series X S consoles. Xbox App For Streaming Apps
The Xbox Companion app on Windows 10, which launched with the OS back in 2015 is somewhat in a weird spot right now. The UWP app now displays a large ad for the new Xbox app that launched alongside Xbox Game Pass for PC last year, and it also lost support for some features such as Xbox Live messaging.
It’s still not clear if the Xbox Console Companion app will eventually go away, though it’s quite obvious that the new Xbox app for Windows 10 and the Xbox Game Bar are now Microsoft’s main focus. These two Xbox experiences on Windows 10 introduced a new design language that has since made its way to the Xbox apps for iOS and Android, which now support remote play from Xbox One and Series X S consoles.
Do you often use the Xbox Console Companion app on your PC to stream games from your Xbox One? If so, let us know in the comments if Xbox Remote Play on iOS and Android devices will be a good enough alternative.
